I am currently volunteering for a ministry in Jerusalem. About two weeks ago I found a stray puppy and though every piece of logic in me was telling me to leave it alone, I newk that I would be leaving it to its death (dogs aren't highly viewed in Arab culture) ... so I snuck it to my apartment on the bus. Its completely impractical to be spending money and time on a dog, but after seeing and experiencing the things I have here I figure I could be doing worse things than showing some compassion on one of God's creatures, as wasteful as it may seem. I'm taking it back to Wheaton with me in mid June, as even the people at a shelter I went to said he would stand no chance here. It's an extremely adorable and sweet shepherd mix. I think its a mix between a Canaan (Israeli shepherd) and maybe German Shepherd, but it doesn't look like it's going to be huge. I would love to keep it myself but I believe I will be coming back next fall to continue at the ministry here. So I'm looking for a good home for him. Canaans are known to be extremely smart and healthy dogs. He's currently about 3 months old and he just got all his puppy and rabies shots. Please email if your interested or know someone who would be. He'll be even cuter than these pictures once a non-contagious skin infection he is taking antibiotics for clears up. The vet said its normal for a stray and should be fine after he finishes his antibiotics and is on regular diet.
